A workflow to integrate operational and embodied aspects when implementing Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment in Building Information Modelling

نویسندگان

چکیده

The existing environmental crisis demands increased efforts to design more sustainable buildings, which means the simultaneous balance between preservation, economic growth, and social well-being. This challenging objective requires holistic methods that enable a comprehensive, multi-dimension, quantitative approach such as allows Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment (LCSA). In addition, context of digital transformation in construction building sector is increasing use tools based on BIM methodology support assessment process integrating dimensions guide decision-making. present work presents workflow enables calculation LCSA including operational embodied aspects. proposes elements should be included model exchange information. focused Spanish includes Revit (as modeler), Dynamo tool), Cypetherm energy demand calculator). proposed us compare different options materials without much effort. study findings recommendations reduce effort when implementing at early stages.

Lean Construction, Building Information Modelling and Sustainability

This paper investigates the mutual relations of three current drivers of construction: lean construction, building information modelling and sustainability. These drivers are based on infrequently occurring changes, only incidentally simultaneous, in their respective domains. It is contended that the drivers are mutually supportive and thus synergistic. They are aligned in the sense that all re...

Leveraging Whole Life Cycle Costs When Utilising Building Information Modelling Technologies

Building Information Modelling (BIM) is now being increasingly used as a technology tool to assist design professions in conceiving, designing, constructing, and operating the built environment in many countries. The BIM model provides design professions with the framework to perform exercises in design, programming, cost and value management, and concept energy analysis, in order to achieve th...

Life Cycle Assessment Prognosis for Sustainability

Today, along with the increasing environmental awareness in the politic, public and industries, the demand on environmentally friendly products and technologies has been increasing. Therefore within the research and development of a product or technology in industries as well as in national or international funded R&D activities the method of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is often implemented in ...

Life-cycle costing analysis to assist design decisions: beyond 3D building information modelling

Design decisions are increasingly required to take full account of life-cycle-cost to facilitate specification choice for different building and engineering components. To this end an integrated framework for life-cycle analysis through identification of contributory elements and sub-elements allows analysis via an appropriate tool. The framework presented discusses the opportunity for the util...

Sustainable Environmental Management using Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment Model in Petrochemical Industry

This study aims to present a sustainable environmental model using the life cycle sustainability assessment (LCSA) method in Shazand Petrochemical Company. To determine the evaluation indices, two Delphi and DEMATEL-FTOPSIS questionnaires were distributed among 27 and 8 experts in the field of sustainable environmental management. The environmental, social, economic, environmental-economic, soc...
